  Chen Lin    

Chen Lin is one of the most promising, talented female conductors that China has brought to the world.

Born in Heilongjiang, China in 1978, Chen Lin received her first piano lesson when she was five years old. At the age of thirteen, she won the grand prix of the young children category in the second Heilongjang Youth Piano Competition. In 1993, when she was fifteen, she was admitted to Junior High School of Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing and started studying composition. In 1996, she entered Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing, where she studied conducting under Yu Feng.

Ms. Chen Lin was a finalist of the Besancon International Conductors Competition, France in 1999, 2001 and 2003. She has appeared in the Tanglewood Festival, USA every year since 2000 at the recommendation of Seiji Ozawa. She was appointed Fellowship Conductor of the festival in 2002.

Since 2003, Ms. Chen Lin has been participating in Seiji Ozawa Ongaku-juku, where she has been an associate conductor for opera performances of Die Fledermaus, La Boheme and Il barbiere di Seviglia.

In 2004, Ms. Chen Lin was appointed Professor of Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing immediately following her graduation from the school as a master of conducting. In the following year, she was appointed Assistant Field Service Professor of Ensembles and Conducting of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, USA and Music Director of CCM Concert Orchestra. Also, she was invited to the Osaka Art Festival at the recommendation of Seiji Ozawa, and made her successful debut to Japan by conducting the Osaka Century Symphony Orchestra at the Izumi Hall, a prestigious concert hall in Japan. In 2006, she appeared in the Saito Kinen Festival in Japan and conducted Opera for Young People and Children's Concert.

Ms. Chen Lin has conducted Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Harbin Symphony Orchestra, Anhui Symphony Orchestra, Hebei Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood Festival Orchestra, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Philharmonic Orchestra, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Concert Orchestra, Seiji Ozawa Ongaku-juku Orchestra, and Century Orchestra Osaka.
